Greetings.
Hello there! My name is Seven, and I do music!
Music has been my primary source of entertainment for eight years now. First it started with trying to impress a girl, then it became a habit, then a hobby, then worship leadership.
Now, eight years after dabbling in piano, and a few months of music production, it’s time to have something to show for it.
Over the last few months, I’ve committed to fully producing pieces that I’ve written over the years, or the things that just happen into my head. It’s not my main line of work, but it is the most fun type of work.
I hope you find something worth listening to.
O’ Gloria River
This song tackles the existential dread of feeling as if there is nothing to do but jump and soar, and the fear of wanting to do what God is calling you to do. The Lord is illustrated through a river in the way that it floats along with certainty of where it goes, but a fluidity that allows change. The wish to be like the river, and the differences between the singer and the river have, are both explored.
It ends off in a honky-tonk, excited section, as if the singer has jumped off the ledge, and trusting what Jesus has planned.
Featuring the first of many melodies made by Wyatt Paul.
Remasters
When I started putting music together on GarageBand, I wan’t able to master any songs, due to not knowing how. I knew very little about panning audio, mixing, and EQ’ing.
Now, some months later, I remastered my four primary songs and am releasing them in the form of an EP, ‘Remasters"‘!
Let Me Do the Right Thing (Remastered)
In The End (Remastered)
Wildfire Candlelight (Remastered)
Lighting Cues / Don’t Go Away (Remastered)
Other Tracks
Lighting Cues/ Don’t Go Away
More playful than some of the other songs, Lighting Cues follows a sort of fantasy that the person loved decides to stay, rather than leaving. Initially, the singer is captivated by the wish of the fantasy, asking “where did that love go, or was it ever here?”. After deciding to sit back and watch from the pews of a broadway theatre, the song bleeds into a separate number, when the singer pleads one last time that that person does not leave.
This was my favorite to write.
In The End
The most depressing and spiritual song so far, this piece follows the journey of being at the lowest point in one’s life, and when all other means of escape seem lost, calling on the Lord to bring revival in the heart. Not in dying, or living, but thriving in his presence.
Let Me Do the Right Thing
A classic blues progression melded with elements of folk, gospel, and a sick harmonica solo. Balancing a sad subject matter of pushing someone away in love, with an upbeat country sound was the most challenging element of this song. While not perfect, it led the way for my other songs to learn from.
Wildfire Candlelight
My first full mixing of a song in GarageBand. It’s an instrumental, and very rudimentary.
