Greetings.
Hello there! My name is Seven, and I do music!
Music has been my primary source of entertainment for eight years now. First it started with trying to impress a girl, then it became a habit, then a hobby, then worship leadership.
Now, eight years after dabbling in piano, and about three months of music production, it’s time to have something to show for it.
Over the last few months, I’ve committed to fully producing pieces that I’ve written over the years, or the things that just happen into my head. It’s not my main line of work, but it is the most fun like of work.
I hope you find something worth listening to.
I’m Your Friend
The next song in line, ‘I’m Your Friend’, focuses primarily on a softer, moodier piano tone. After a few songs of guitar or cajon as the primary instrument, exploring dynamics of the voice (also in a lower tenor) and soft, roomy piano was something I wanted to expand on.
The lyrics themselves explore themes of distance and lost friendship. Although bleak, and somewhat helpless in its phrasing, there are little slivers of hope - “It won’t be long ‘till I’m your friend” - but not without some level of denial and grief. That is emphasized through the instrumental section, which builds from a slow acoustic guitar to an overbearing A cappella section that expands with hope, before one final plead. By the end, there is still the request of “don’t let go”, but in an accepting, somber tone that ends out the song in a whisper.
I hope you enjoy.
The lonely moon, the teary eyes
Sit together as they say their last goodbyes
And I’m alone, through no fault of my own
A warm bed, yet I wish I were dead, dead
So hold my hand, and don’t let go
Whisper softly, and tell my heart it isn’t so
Take me back to when she said
that it won’t be long ‘till I’m your friend
So I take a seat and watch from afar,
It fits better than an empty table at an empty bar
And I tell myself there’s hope around the bend
‘Cause you fix your gaze and I freeze and pray,
The moment never ends
And you always come, but you always go
And it’s such a shame to shift the blame,
And give that love a new name
So hold my hand, and don’t let go
Whisper softly, and tell my heart it isn’t so
Take me back to when she said
that it won’t be long ‘till I’m your friend
So hold my hand, and don’t let go
Whisper softly, and tell my heart it isn’t so
Take me back to when she said
That it won’t be long ‘till I’m your friend
Take me back to when she said
That it won’t be long ‘till I’m your friend

Lighting Cues/ Don’t Go Away
More playful than some of the other songs, Lighting Cues follows a sort of fantasy that the person loved decides to stay, rather than leaving. Initially, the singer is captivated by the wish of the fantasy, asking “where did that love go, or was it ever here?”. After deciding to sit back and watch from the pews of a broadway theatre, the song bleeds into a separate number, when the singer pleads one last time that that person does not leave.
This was one of my favorites to write.
